Our Holidays "Working around the Yard"

Week 2 of our holidays was spent at home in the Boissevain area. Trev was excited to do a few projects around the house. First was putting a set of stairs off the back of our step and putting some latice around it to clean it up. He did a great job. He also fixed some plumbing, built a fire pit and helped me with some flower bed cleaning. We had a lot of fun just working around the yard.

So, I just realized that all the posts I just created are in reverse order, so start at the last and work your way up. These are a bunch of random pictures from our trip. We had a wonderful time. We slept in, ate lots of food and didn't check our emails or phone messages. We didn't do any shopping or laundry. We didn't get lost and our car didn't break down. None of us got a sunburn or got sick. We got to explore a little more of Canada. We had a wonderful vacation!

Our Kenora Trip "Winnipeg Zoo"

On our way home we decided to stop and take in the Winnipeg zoo. We were only there for a few hours, but it was fun. I had never seen the animals moving around so much. (maybe because it was a cooler day) I got some really cool pictures of some of the big cats, my fav.




They were feeding the bears, and part of me was wondering what would happen if the zoo keeper fell in. somehow I dont think the bears would say "oh, I shouldn't eat him, he feeds me". There were gophers everywhere. I almost hit one with the stroller. Trev says that i swerved to try to hit him, but that doesn't sound like me does it? Brook didn't get much out of the experience, but she had fun watching all the other kids running around.

Our Kenora Trip "Rushing River"

We took a trip out to the Rushing River Park. It was beautiful! Unfortunately it started to rain once we got there, but we figured we would survive so we walked around and took a few pictures. We wanted to rent a canoe, but it got pretty windy when it started raining.

Our Kenora Trip "The Pool"

It seems that for anyone that has children a pool or beach is a must on holidays. Brook is only 9 months and she is LOVING water already. We made a point of going swimming at least once a day. She didn't seem to care if she got splashed or that the water was frigged. Her little lips were turning blue and she was still splashing and giggling. Good times.

Our second adventure was to go see the "Keewatin Potholes". The travel magazine said that they were a "must see" when visiting Lake of the Woods. I am not sure what I was expecting, but seriously, it was 4 holes in a rock. Hmmm. Of course I was amazed that these holes occurred naturally, but it wasn't quite as thrilling as the Travel guide made it out to be.

Our Kenora Holiday "The Boat Trip"

For our holidays we decided to take a trip to Kenora. Trevor and I had both been there, but never together, so we thought it would be a fun time to see the sights. We stayed in a hotel because we were a little afraid to commit to camping with a baby, besides I don't think we could have fit all our junk in our car. (I know, we need a van already) When we arrived at our hotel they gave us a bigger room for the same price. It was wonderful! For our first adventure we decided to take a short boat tour of the Lake of the Woods on the "MS Kenora."
It was about 1.5 hr trip, where our captian pointed out large "cottages", (which were bigger than most homes) historic sites and eagle nests. We even got to see an Eagle swoop down and catch a fish right out of the water.
As we were on the upper deck and Brook was playing with a little plastic fisher price person. She dropped it and it went overboard. Trev and I had a good laugh and Brook just kept looking for her toy. She was quite confused as you can see.
