Trev took a trip to New Orleans last week. He left on the 15th and came back a week later on the 22nd. It was hard to have him gone for an entire week (especially while dealing with morning sickness), but we managed to have a good time. Brook and I visited Mom and Dad for a few days and enjoyed their B&B. It's always a great place to relax. Thanks Mom for all your "baby sitting".
Trev went to New Orleans with Mennonite Disaster Service. On spring break 2011 he will be taking his youth group to New Orleans for their missions trip. He wanted to take a trip down there to see what the city is really like and what kinds of needs there are. Trev had not flown since he was young, so it was good for him to experience airports, security and transfers. Above is his team photo. Trev went alone, but had the opportunity to meet a bunch of new people when he arrived there. It was pretty hot. Most days with the humidity it was close to 40C. He spent his week painting and dry-walling. It sounds like his experience was eyeopening. There are still a lot of homes that have not been repaired since hurricane Katrina. Many people are still living in RV's provided by the government for temporary housing. There had been a lot of contractor fraud after the hurricane as people started repairing their homes. I'll post some more pictures when I get the memory card from his camera.
