General Happenings - Trev and his Yard -

Trev's been working his tail off on the back yard trying to get ready to build our new fence. A few days ago we were sitting around the fire in the back yard, eating spits and talking, when we both decided to knock the fence down. We were done in 7 minutes. (High quality fence) So we have the wood and all the hardware. MTS and Hydro came and marked their stuff so we won't electrocute ourselves or put the neighborhood out of phone service. Now we just need to dig a few holes and get some gravel and cement and we are ready to go!

General Happenings - Brook

Brook is getting quite mobile. It's fun to watch her learn her limitations. Yesterday she was playing with Milo and she got a hold of his tail again and he did not like it, so he decided to take off. Unfortunately Brook did not let go. She smacked her head on the hardwood floor really hard. That sound has been a familiar sound lately. She covered in bumps and bruises. Oh well, she is learning that some falls are not worth crying over anymore. Brook has been helping me with the laundry. I fold and load the basket, she unloads it. She is getting more teeth, so I blame that for some of her crankiness, but I am pretty sure some of it is just genetic.

The other day I was feeding Brook lunch and Milo jumped up on the stool and watched. Strange cat.

I was looking through the toy box today, and I found one of the plastic horses I used to play with when I was a kid. When I saw her playing with it I teared up a little. It was a special moment for me.

I have been having a good time taking care of my flowerbeds. They are nothing spectacular this summer, but I am hoping that next summer they will be a little more healthy. Most of the flowers have been transplanted. (thanks Mom and Freda) There are a few that are lookin OK, but they are from Canadian Tire.

Our Holidays "The Peace Garden"

While camping we ran out of things to do on Friday afternoon so we took a drive to the Peace Garden. I had never been there before. They recently added a display of some of the wreckage from the Twin Towers.

It was cold, windy, and it started to rain, but it was still a good time.

Now we have run out of money and holidays, so we will be at home if anyone is looking for us. It will be nice to sit still for a while.

Our Holidays "Camping at Lake William"

We went camping at lake William from Thursday to Saturday. I was a little too chicken to camp a long way from home just in case Brook didn't sleep well in the tent. (Lake William is about 20 minutes from home.) We had a good time. It was kinda cold so we couldn't go swimming, but we found things to occupy our time. On Saturday morning I heard it was only 5 degrees. I am glad I "over packed" and brought extra blankets and winter clothes for Brook. She was so cute in her little hood. I put socks on her hands for the night.

There was a chipmunk that kept harassing Sam. He was pretty brave. He would come down the tree and steal pieces of her dog food. Sam spent a lot of time "guarding" her food and looking up that tree.

Everything went really well until Friday night when there was a bit of a fight between two guys. One thought the other should turn down his music and the other didn't agree. Unfortunately the Game Warden ended up solving their dispute for them. The people camping across from us didn't show up to their camping site until 2:30 am, at which point they proceeded to hammer in their tent pegs and chop wood. Brook slept through the entire ordeal. Sam did her best to protect us by laying at the tent door growling. I think we might stick to camping during the week if possible. It was a lot of fun and I wouldn't be afraid to go camping with a baby again.

Our Holidays "Working around the Yard"

Week 2 of our holidays was spent at home in the Boissevain area. Trev was excited to do a few projects around the house. First was putting a set of stairs off the back of our step and putting some latice around it to clean it up. He did a great job. He also fixed some plumbing, built a fire pit and helped me with some flower bed cleaning. We had a lot of fun just working around the yard.

So, I just realized that all the posts I just created are in reverse order, so start at the last and work your way up. These are a bunch of random pictures from our trip. We had a wonderful time. We slept in, ate lots of food and didn't check our emails or phone messages. We didn't do any shopping or laundry. We didn't get lost and our car didn't break down. None of us got a sunburn or got sick. We got to explore a little more of Canada. We had a wonderful vacation!
