We made some cookies this evening. Brook pushed a chair up to the counter and was tempting herself. Mmmm Cookies.

Trev in New Orleans
Trev took a trip to New Orleans last week. He left on the 15th and came back a week later on the 22nd. It was hard to have him gone for an entire week (especially while dealing with morning sickness), but we managed to have a good time. Brook and I visited Mom and Dad for a few days and enjoyed their B&B. It's always a great place to relax. Thanks Mom for all your "baby sitting".
Trev went to New Orleans with Mennonite Disaster Service. On spring break 2011 he will be taking his youth group to New Orleans for their missions trip. He wanted to take a trip down there to see what the city is really like and what kinds of needs there are. Trev had not flown since he was young, so it was good for him to experience airports, security and transfers. Above is his team photo. Trev went alone, but had the opportunity to meet a bunch of new people when he arrived there. It was pretty hot. Most days with the humidity it was close to 40C. He spent his week painting and dry-walling. It sounds like his experience was eyeopening. There are still a lot of homes that have not been repaired since hurricane Katrina. Many people are still living in RV's provided by the government for temporary housing. There had been a lot of contractor fraud after the hurricane as people started repairing their homes. I'll post some more pictures when I get the memory card from his camera.
May
I didn't realize it has been over a month since I last posted something on here. The first picture explains why. I had been trying to not "spill the beans", and that is hard not to do when blogging and sharing our lives with others. I am not feeling great, but hopefully that will only last a few more weeks. I figure I can always clean my house later. This baby is set to arrive around Christmas time. Should be fun!!!

Here are a few random pictures from around our place from May. Brook finally has enough hair for pigtails. (sort of)
I took a picture of her riding her rocking horse in her matching jumpsuit and sandals. Quite the combination. Not exactly "appropriate riding attire".
Brook and I were sitting having an afternoon snack the other day when a pair of gold finches hit our big living room window. One didn't survive the ordeal, but the other was a little stunned for a few minutes. Before Milo played him to death I picked him up and put him on the barrel to recover. Brook didn't like the idea of being left alone with a strange bird.

Visiting Ryan and Jackie
We took a trip to Winnipeg last weekend to visit with Trevor's Brother and his family. We had a really great time. Usually when we go to Winnipeg we pack our entire time with scheduled activities. This time we went with no itinerary. It was really fun. We took a trip to the children's museum, went for ice cream, and (Trev's favorite) played Wii Rock Band. Brook spent most of her time enjoying all of her cousins toys and learning how to share. I really enjoyed getting to know my sister in law better. We were all good and tired when we got home but it was worth it

Bloody and Sticky
What a beautiful day it was this morning. Brook and I started the day by waiving goodbye to Trevor, eating our breakfast and leisurely cleaning the house. By 11 am we were running out of activities, so we put on our jackets and headed to the bank to make a deposit.
We saw birds, dogs, a cat, a squirrel, and a Pug. (which I have been told is a canine, but I am not sure I believe that) We stopped a few times for Brook to point to her shoes and say "boots". She is fascinated by her footwear.
About 1.75 blocks into our 2 block walk Brook tripped on a crack on the side walk, hit her face on the cement and split her lip open. Blood, spit and tears were everywhere. For a moment I considered walking home, but the bank was the closest place to find any kind of absorbent material to clean her up, so in we went. The ladies were so good. They gave us kleenex, paper towels, and even dampened a few with cold
water to keep down the swelling in Brooks puffy lip. Our jackets were nicely soiled with blood, but other than that we were fine. Brook's crying was quickly silenced when Linda, one of the tellers, offered her a basket of suckers to choose from. I made my deposit and we were on our way back home.
Brook fully enjoyed her sucker, which made our walk home a bit longer, but we were in no hurry. She would stop, touch the sucker with her thumb and forefinger, then put it back in her mouth. A few times we had to break for her to switch the sucker from hand to hand. During one of these exchanges the sucker fell to the ground, caked with dirt. Before I could intervien the sucker was back in her mouth. She didn't even seem to notice the extra garnish of gravel.
By the time we got home both of us were very sticky and still quite bloody. It was a good walk, but it didn't quite turn out the way I had planned. I guess that is how life is all the time. What a beautiful day it was this morning.

Moral of the story: When traveling with a small child never leave home without a pocket full of kleenex and your sense of adventure.
